Gretna Remembrance Day Ceremonies
Remembrance Day is observed November 11th at the Gretna Elementary School. Everyone is invited to attend, with a special invitation extended to all veterans, Canadian and American, who are asked to wear decorations and to participate in the Veterans Parade. Coffee and dainties are served. Email for more details.

In 2008 the Curtis Klassen Memorial Fund was launched to honor a friend that was lost tragically in 1990. To date we have raised and donated over $40,000.  This event is held annually the Saturday after the May long weekend.

 

Altona’s Signature event.  The Manitoba Sunflower Festival has been entertaining residents and visitors alike since 1964.

 

The Studio Tour was launched by a small group of enthusiasts in 2005. The love of art and of promoting artists and tourism were the driving passions behind the organization of the tour. It usually takes place over the second weekend in September each year. The studios and galleries are situated between the village of Neubergthal near Altona in the East,and the Manitou/La Riviere area in the West and we usually have between 25 and 30 artists opening us their studios. Many artists mount their exhibits in their own studios, while others set up in other unique venues, or join other artists who have studio spaces. There are also a few galleries on the tour where the work of several artists is on display. Tourists use a brochure with map to guide them to the venues. The tour runs on the second weekend in September most years from 10 am to 6 pm on both days.
